ASHIKIN RAHIM

Ashikin graduated from the University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur in 2009 where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws with Honours. She also holds a Master of Laws from the same university when she graduated in 2014. She once represented University of Malaya as a mooter at the national level of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and her team emerged as the runner-up. The competition sparked her deep interest in litigation as she strived to sharpen her advocacy skills.

Called to the Malaysian Bar in April 2010, Ashikin was exposed to the world of commercial litigation and general civil litigation when she was retained as a Legal Associate at one of the most prestigious boutique law firm in Kuala Lumpur upon completing her chambering at the same firm. Having done various types of civil matters including a number of high-profile cases which have been covered by the media and reported in the law journals, Ashikin had the experience of handling complex and general litigation suits as Counsel and Co-Counsel at the High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal Court during her 4-year stint with the said firm.

Her civil litigation exposure covers matters involving debt recovery (winding-up and bankruptcy), land fraud, judicial review, public interest litigation, oil and gas, shipping, bonds, and general commercial disputes. She is also formally trained as a Mediation Counsel.

Ashikin ventured into syariah litigation practice after obtaining her Postgraduate Diploma in Syariah Law and Practice from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Shah Alam. She then moved on to obtain syariah licenses to practice as a Syariah Practitioner at 10 States in Malaysia, i.e. Wilayah Persekutuan (KL, Putrajaya & Labuan), Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca, Penang, Johor, Perlis, Perak, Kelantan and Pahang. Ashikin had the privilege of chambering and being trained in syariah when she was working as a Legal Assistant with a well-known boutique civil & syariah law firm in Selangor.

Her experience in handling syariah matters includes marital disputes, divorce, custody, maintenance (nafkah) inheritance, gift (hibah) and other related matters.

Ashikin decided to set up Kin & Co with a view of providing quality and affordable legal services in the area that she loves most: civil and syariah litigation. The flexibility of having her own firm also allows her to focus on her clients and to offer them her best efforts in resolving their disputes or issues as instructed.

The firm also handles legal transactions involving sale and purchase of properties and transfer of ownerships.
